OBAMA INAUGURATION

"On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord....Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America."
-President Obama-

Dear Friends,

I just finished watching the speech made by President Obama. I was inspired.

It is hard to believe that just 40 years ago, the United States was strife with racial tensions. One would have never thought that an African-American would now be President, so soon after. It is such a wonderful day because his inauguration occurred just one day after Martin Luther King Day, a great man who envisioned change not through violence, but non-violent protest.

This just shows how quickly change can come. I am very hopeful for the future and sincerely hope you had an opportunity to watch the coverage. Must admit, today has been a tough day to concentrate on work because I was so busy watching history unfold. If you did not have a chance to watch the speech, you may want to read it.

I think President Obama has his work cut out for him. But keep this in mind: "What we think, then believe, we ultimately will achieve!" I think Obama has a vision for the future and has thought profoundly about what he wants. Certainly from his words, it is clear that he believes that his ambitions will be achieved. He is a visionary and my sincere hope is that he realizes this vision.

In Obama's words:

"Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America."

I agree President Obama.

It is time to begin focusing on the future, forgetting about the past, and rebuilding for the next generation. Take action!

I am a humanitarian first, entrepreneur second. My hope is you will feel hope, but most importantly act on that hope to make your life better. I look forward to welcoming you to my family and hopefully, I can inspire you to shape your destiny and ensure a more positive life for you and your family.

IS TEA THE NEXT COFFEE?

Sage Group International LLC, publisher of the "Specialty Tea is 'Hot' Report," estimates that the U.S. tea industry will grow to $10 billion by 2010! With so much attention focused on this exciting and healthy beverage, it's no wonder that many people are looking for a way to start a business in the tea industry.

Tea Connexions is positioned well to help you start a tea business. We offer many different programs.

I also invite you to check out a great article about tea that is featured on Health magazine's website. It positions tea as a healthy and trendy beverage, includes information about Calm-A-Sutra and links to several of the top videos from last year's competition. The article also includes a chart summarizing the benefits of black, oolong, green and white tea and points out that herbals are not the same and may not have similar benefits of traditional tea. It is written by Pollock Communications staffer Julie Upton, MS, RD.

Check out the video below for an amusing look at tea's health benefits:

TEA CONNEXIONS ANNIVERSARY

Dear Tea Friends,

Here are some quotes to begin 2009 with.

"Leap, and the net will appear."
-Julie Cameron-

"Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it."
-Jack Canfield-

"Jump into the middle of things, get your hands dirty, fall flat on your face, and then reach for the stars."
-Joan L. Curcio-

"Your actions, and your action alone, determines your worth."
-Johann G. Fichte-

"Do not wait; the time will never be 'just right.' Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along."
-Napoleon Hill-

2009 marks two milestones for the business and my family.

First, my wife and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary this month.

We were married on January 26th, 1999. From my story and the history of the company, you will realize that Suruchi and I not only started our lives together in 1999, but also this tea business. I still remember the day we met with our supplier in February, 1999; Suruchi chose the first 15 products that we launched this company with. Since then, our first child, Tea Connexions, was born and is slowly maturing. Our second child, Shivam, turns 4 this month as well, so this is a very historic month for us.

Second, 2009 marks the 10th year of tea importation. Our first warehouse was my 200 square foot office. I have fond memories of those days. Every morning I would come to my office and face a stack full of boxes packed full of tea. From these humble beginnings, I began planning and mapping out my tea distribution strategy. From this spark of an idea, we began to grow and with that so did our need for warehousing. Our first warehouse was 100 square feet, then 300 square feet, then 1000 square feet, and today, we warehouse most of our inventory in our US facility and house our corporate head quarters in a 2,500 square foot office in Kingston, ON, only about 30 minutes from our US warehouse. It has been an exciting 10 years. Cheers!

We look forward to mentoring many new aspiring teapreneurs and shipping out many orders to new and existing customers.

The tea business is projected to grow from $7.4 billion to $15 billion in the next five years. If you are considering starting a business, this is the perfect time to start a tea business with Tea Connexions particularly because of the market advantages that we offer.

On behalf of the Tea Connexions family, I want to thank you for helping me achieve my dreams.
